Women like Scarlett Johansson’s lips while men love Angelina
Jolie’s. At least that’s the word from a dubious online survey that asked both
male and female to pick and choose among the facial features of celebrities to
discern, in a high school yearbook–reminiscent exertion, who is the most
beautiful?
“Would Mila Kunis’s seductive eye, Megan Fox’s button nose
and Angelina’s plump pout form the perfect look?” British beauty retailer
Escentual.com suggested to its blog readers. “Let us know whose facial feature
is the best. We will take your result and construct the perfect female face,
according to you reader” That was nearly a year ago, but the results are just
now creating a thrill since being featured by the Daily Mail on last Wednesday.
The results are fewer than illuminating, with the male
idealized creation a scary, dead eyed combo of Kate Middleton, Jennifer
Aniston, Mila Kunis, Miranda Kerr and
Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox — with blond hair (courtesy of Shakira),
obviously. Women, meanwhile, curated a poorly stitched brunette with features of
Cara Delevingne, Keira Knightley, Freida Pinto, Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis,
Blake Lively, Scarlett Johansson and Megan Fox.
So what are we to learn from this isometrics in virtual
plastic surgery? For one, how celebrity and model, commonly white, are largely
believed as the most perfect Female. We already knew that. So perhaps the
bottom line is less significant.
“While these images bring up some alarming ideas regarding
our narrow beauty standards, if anything," notes Jezebel, "they're
simply a testament to the unsettling merriment and confusion that ensues when
you try to create the ideal woman by mod podging the faces of the top
celebrities.”
